Partnership with the Pittsburgh Pirates

Our relationship with the Pittsburgh Pirates Organization began in 2015 during a meeting with Assistant GM, Kyle Stark at Pirate City in Bradenton, Florida. The first goal we set during this meeting was to positively impact the children of the Dominican Republic through field renovations, equipment donations and service projects. The Pirates organization have a state of the art facility in Boca Chica and have always strived to give back to the surrounding areas through community service.

Since then, Pirates Charities, has contributed financially to help us build a field in La Romana as well as a total field renovation in El Mamón. We have worked and stayed with players at the Pirates Academy to provide clinics and field renovations in Boca Chica and the Santo Domingo areas as well donating massive amounts of equipment to the children of all these communities. The Pirates have opened their doors to us at Spring Training so we can share with current players and coaches in hopes of encouraging further support and involvement.

In 2017, with the help of Gavi Nivar, Pittsburgh Pirates DSL Coach, we established four programs in La Romana, San Pedro de Macoris, San Cristobal and Bani. In addition to providing instruction during our trips as well as donating much needed equipment, after school programs have been established for continued training. With the help of local coordinators, MTAG is having a daily impact and building a long lasting relationship that will be changing communities for several years to come.
